Wind Gap, Pennsylvania: Converter Accessory Corporation (CAC) is offering the EHR 2K3 Series of technically advanced, precise, exceptionally versatile electrically heated rolls suitable for foils, paper, plastic, textiles and drying applications. The system is effective in lines with speeds up to 1000 feet per minute. Compared to oil, water or steam based systems, EHR 2K3 electrically heated rolls are exceptionally precise, clean to operate, easy to maintain and are a preferred selection for a long term use. The EHR 2K3 Series includes rolls of 2 inch to 18 inch diameters with roll faces ranging from 5 inches to 70 inches.
The EHR 2K3 features a multi heater cartridge design that offers exceptionally active temperature control across the full roll face within a specific temperature tolerance for the application, guaranteed by CAC. Both automatic and manual temperature controls are available, including a digital automatic control with PID feedback for stable process value temperatures. Temperatures to 700 ° F can be achieved.
The EHR 2K3 series features dual slip rings separate from the heater assembly. The power slip ring is made of heavy-duty replaceable brushes and rings. The closed loop temperature signal slip ring employs mercury-wetted contacts. A multitude of sensor technologies are available.
EHR 2K3 series is offered in a wide range of surface coatings and coverings including polished chrome, teflon, silicone, rubber, plain steel and more.
To ensure uniform heat control, the individual, easily replaceable heat cartridges are designed with overlapping heat areas. Internal insulation prevents heat transfer from the roll to the journal, a feature that contributes to the long life of the system.
According to Jeff Damour, CAC engineering manager, the system is effective with virtually any web material that needs to be heated, including heat activated adhesives, laminations and coating.
“The EHR 2K3 is easy to use and easy to maintain,” Damour said. “The more demanding the application, the more precise the temperature controls required, the more the system shines. In fact, temperature accuracy measured anywhere on the heated roll face has been within +/- 2° F in laboratory tests.”
“Our sales, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering departments work together, very closely with each customer to design the EHR 2K3 to fit their needs and operate within their required specifications”, Damour continued.
