How do I fix a baggy web?

Unfortunately, the answer is; you don't. Webs can appear baggy on one side or the other. Sometimes webs are baggy in the center with edges being tight. Sometimes the center is tight with the edges baggy. Regardless of where you see the bagginess, the culprit is the same. Wherever the web is baggy, it's because the web is literally longer in the machine direction than the tight areas of the web. For example, if you were to take a web with a baggy side and lay out a very long length of it, let's say on a football field, it would not lay out straight, it would actually have an arc.

You cannot permanently fix a baggy web in your machine. However, there are several web spreading devices that can help lay the material flat prior to a specific station in your machine allowing specific processes to operate better. Keep in mind; you are not changing your web; you’re just fixing it, temporarily for that specific process.
