Nip type web spreaders are an excellent option if your web experiences edge fold-over. Some webs have baggy edges to the point that the edges fold over toward the center of the web. Edge fold-overs can become creases quickly by passing through a nip point, passing over idler or driven rollers or simply by the web being under tension.

Nip type web spreaders incorporate small diameter, short face nip rollers spring loaded in contact with each other. They come in a left and a right hand set and mount on each side of your web. Each of the nip sets are angled away from each other.

This web spreading device utilizes the web handling principal; that a web will seek a 90 degree angle to a roll in its entry span to that roll. The nipping action of each nip set puts the webs edges in traction with each nip set. Since the nips are angled away from each other, they effectively pull on each of the web. Nip type web spreaders are probably the most aggressive spreader roll available. They will remove tons of wrinkles and prevent edge fold over by supporting and pulling each of the webs edges. It's easy to adjust the amount of spreading; simply adjust the angle of each nip set.

Several pairs of nip type spreaders can be mounted "in a row" to increase the total spreading action and further assist in preventing edge fold-overs.

A NEW mounting bracket is currently available. The new mounting bracket is extremely easy to mount with four mounting holes per side.
