There are many styles and designs for roll handling equipment.

There is a multitude of styles and designs to choose from when considering roll handling equipment for your facility. Here are some factors that will help you and potential suppliers understand what type of roll handling apparatus is best for your facility.

  1. Roll specifications - the roll handler must be the proper design to handle your roll weights, core sizes, width range and roll diameters. Also, do your rolls have a tendency to telescope? This can be a major factor in deciding what type of roll handler to use.
  2. Are you moving rolls, positioning rolls, turning rolls or all of the above? Some roll handling devices are well suited for certain operations and not so well suited for others.
  3. Efficiency - How many rolls do you want to handle in a given time period. Some operations need to handle individual rolls every few minutes. Some only handle rolls every few hours. Your requirement for efficiency is a major factor in deciding what type of roll handler is best for you.
  4. Get everyone involved! Perhaps the most important factor for roll handling equipment is that people will actually use it. Get everyone's input that will use the equipment. Get as much buy-in to the equipment that you can.

Roll handling equipment that is properly designed for your application will help your bottom line by reducing or eliminating operator fatigue and roll damage.
