Core Holding for Effective Tension Control
Effective web handling begins with web tension control. Proper tension control starts at the unwind and ends with the rewind in converting applications, such as coating, laminating, slitting, sewing, folding, printing, metalizing and any other process involving paper, film, foil, textile and nonwoven webs. Roll cores in unwind and most rewind applications, must be positively gripped or essentially locked in place to allow torque to be applied through a brake, clutch or drive. Torque delivered from brakes, clutches and drives translates to web tension as webs unwound into or rewound from web converting process. If roll cores slip, rotationally, on their supports or even if loosely wound roll layers slip on each other through roll build, tension control, whether manual, open-loop automatic or closed-loop automatic will be intermittent at best and completely ineffective at worst. Controlling web tension is key to success in web converting. Core holding a substantial link in the web tension chain. https://www.converteraccessory.com/products/coresupport/index.php Jeff Damour
