Beam strength may be a key factor when deciding what type of air shaft to use.

Beam strength may be a key factor when deciding what type of air shaft to utilize for your operation. It is important to understand how much your air shaft will deflect under load in your application. Any air shaft manufacturer should be able to ask you a series of questions and get a basic application design to calculate how much their air shaft will deflect in your application.

When deciding what type of air shaft to use, deflection is only one of the deciding factors, among many others. It may not be the highest priority when picking the air shaft you want to use. However, you should know what the deflection will be for your application. Ask your air shaft supplier for these numbers to assist you in your decision making process.
